My sailing season 2007

Mainly featuring fog and light or nil wind except for the Force 6-7 on Brigantes!

Rolling on the North Sea - taken by phone camera 31st July Lowestoft to Harwich and "Sea state slight" later in same trip

The short chop with wind against tide was very uncomfortable and we arrived battered and bruised by 10 pm at Shotley Point

Sunrise 6th August during 11 hours return trip from Ipswich to Lowestoft having only 2.5 hrs with enough wind to sail

Moored in Neptune Marina Ipswich preparing to depart at 10pm Sunday 5th August for solo return trip

Life aboard the 20 ft Redfox (below right) as 1 of a crew of 2 was quite an experience!

Fog creeping up the North Sea Canal from the (Kleinesluis) Ijmuiden sea lock eastwards toward Amsterdam.

The fog stayed around us for 3 days.  The wind was against us too from the south west (in spite of the forecast), along with the tidal stream for 12 out of every 24 hours.  It is not often that the North Sea is flat and windless.  Being able to use sails for only a small proportion of the time was most frustrating

We left Luton for Amsterdam on Monday 14th June we arrived home on Thursday evening 17th during the first of the torrential rain that had we been much later we might have experienced on the North Sea in the small Yacht Gentle Jane!

Aboard Gib Sea 43 into Guernsey just prior to the fog!

10th June 2007 Jolly before Holland trip
